Emily E. Purcell, M.D.
Emily Purcell joined Rheumatology Associates, Ltd., in 2021. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and board certified in Rheumatology. Dr. Purcell will be a member of the consulting staff at Abington Health-Lansdale Hospital and Einstein Medical Center Montgomery.
Dr. Purcell completed a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. She then participated in the Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award Program at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD where she studied bone development in a murine model and presented her research at scientific meetings. She then received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD where she developed an interest in integrative medicine. After medical school, she completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. She recently completed fellowship training in Rheumatology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, where she completed the Clinical Research Training Certificate Program.
Dr. Purcell's clinical interests are varied and include treatment of psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, inflammatory myositis, gout, sarcoidosis and scleroderma. She is enthusiastic about the education of her patients and also enjoys teaching medical trainees. She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and Philadelphia Rheumatism Society.
